Tomorrow is Already in God's Hands
“Declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.’”
You don’t know what tomorrow holds. God does. That simple truth can bring enormous peace to a worried heart. We can’t predict every circumstance that will enter our lives. A phone call can change a family. A diagnosis can alter plans. A door can suddenly open and a door can suddenly close. Through all of that, nothing surprises God. When God says He declares “the end from the beginning,” He is reminding us that history is not moving randomly. God has a purpose. His counsel will stand. His plan will be accomplished.
Biblical prophecy proves this repeatedly. God announced events before they happened and then brought them to pass exactly as He had said. That means Revelation is not describing a future that God hopes will happen. Revelation reveals a future He sovereignly controls. Christ will return. God’s promises to Israel will be fulfilled. Christ’s literal kingdom will be established. Satan will be defeated. Sin will be judged. God’s people will be with Him forever.
Those truths give the believer stability when life feels unstable. You may not know what God will allow tomorrow, but you know who God will be tomorrow. He will still be sovereign. He will still be faithful. He will still be wise. He will still be good. He will still be working toward the fulfillment of everything He has promised.
Our confidence is not that we know the future. Our confidence is that we know the God who does and the salvation we have through Jesus Christ.
